Description
WECO's Backwashing Filter with nextSand is a cutting-edge Point-of-Entry (POE) solution designed to purify municipal and well water supplies. At the core of this system lies nextSand, a premium filter media composed of Clinoptilolite. Sourced from the Western United States, this exceptional mineral undergoes meticulous processing to yield a robust, high-surface-area media with exceptional microporous properties.
Unlike traditional filter sands or multimedia blends, nextSand offers unmatched performance. Its vast surface area effectively captures and removes microscopic particles down to three microns, significantly reducing Total Suspended Solids (TSS), turbidity, and sediments like sand and oxidized minerals. Moreover, nextSand's superior flow capacity—three to four times that of standard media—enhances water filtration efficiency without compromising system performance.
This innovative filter media is remarkably durable and requires minimal maintenance. A simple periodic backwash keeps nextSand clean and operating at peak performance for an impressive five years or more, eliminating the need for frequent media replacement. By choosing WECO's Backwashing Filter with nextSand, you're investing in a sustainable, high-performance solution that delivers cleaner, healthier water. Controller features include:
Water enters the top of the tank through the control valve and passes downward through the media bed, which removes impurities. The backwashing filter will clean itself periodically by rinsing away impurities it has filtered from water. When the filter medium is saturated with contaminants, the control valve automatically starts the backwash process. The backwash procedure is an operation where water passes backward through the filter media at a fast flow rate. It enters the tank at the bottom through the riser tube, then flows upward through the filter medium, exiting at the control valve and sent to waste. The rapid, turbulent upward waterflow, in addition to flushing away particulate matter, loosens and resettles the media bed, preparing it for another filtration cycle. The treated and conditioned water enters the riser tube at the bottom of the mineral tank, passing upward and exiting the filter through the control valve.
The WECO backwashing filter is available in a variety of sizes. The filter can be operated stand-alone or in conjunction with other filtration processes. Please contact WECO Technical Support for expert assistance sizing and configuring your filtration system.
