WECO CATX-1054-OZ Backwashing Whole House Water Filter With Catalytic Carbon
The WECO Backwashing filter with catalytic granular activated carbon (GAC) is a high-performance Point-Of-Entry (POE) filter designed to remove contaminants from water supplies.
The WECO Backwashing filter with catalytic granular activated carbon (GAC) is a high-performance Point-Of-Entry (POE) filter designed to effectively remove contaminants from water supplies. It reduces low levels of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), responsible for unpleasant odors and corrosiveness to metals. Additionally, it addresses issues related to low levels of ferrous iron, copper, and various organic compounds, ensuring improved water quality. The system, featuring a backwash mineral tank and a user-friendly controller, utilizes a backwashing process to clean and maintain the activated carbon bed for optimal filtration performance. This comprehensive solution offers reliable and trouble-free service for both residential and industrial water filtration needs.
WECO backwashing filters are offered in a range of sizes. For guidance in choosing the right filter size to fulfill your water purification needs, kindly reach out to WECO Technical Support for expert assistance.
Standard Features
Fiber Reinforced Valve Body
Strength and durability. Non corrosive.
Unique water distribution technology creates fluidity of the media bed and extends contaminant removal capacity.
Intelligent Controller
State-of-the-art control head designed for residential and commercial water applications requiring high flow rates.
Regulates all cycles of water filtration with a solid state microprocessor, front panel settings and LCD display.
Fully automated performance.
Enhanced Oxidation Generator
EOG generates active ozone during the backwash process and retains an ozone head in the filter. This assists in the oxidation and cleaning of contaminants trapped in the catalytic carbon filter bed.
The EOG system will also aid in eliminating undesirable odors, such as rotten egg, stale, or musty smells.
Simple Connections
Standard MNPT (Male National Pipe Thread) inlet, outlet, drain, and 120 VAC electrical connections are provided. Various commonly used adapter sizes and styles are in stock available to accommodate your copper or PEX pipes.
Installation & operation manual included.
EOG Module
Automated control of EOG module by the filter control valve.
Onboard diagnostic LED light to convey real-time performance status of the unit.

Notes
Refer to the table below for backwash flow rate requirements. If you are unable to meet the backwash flow rate, consider running multiple units plumbed in parallel as a solution.
Every unit is crafted to order and can be customized to meet specific well water temperature requirements before shipping.
Advantages
Efficiently removes chlorine, chloramine, and organic chemicals from water with high removal capacity.
Effectively reduces low levels of hydrogen sulfide and various other contaminants from water.
Enhances the taste and odor of well & municipal water.
Operates with low operational costs.
Vortech® distribution technology enhances the fluidity of the media bed, extending contaminant removal capacity. This results in a substantial reduction in backwash water usage, promoting water and environmental conservation, with backwash flow rate reductions of at least 30%.
Installation
We advise installation by a licensed plumber or well technician who follows local plumbing codes.
External Bypass Valve Included
The bypass provides greater control over the equipment and the water supply to your house, offering service, bypass, diagnostic, and shutoff modes.
Drain Valve
A high-flow backwashing is conducted frequently (customizable) to prevent void areas in the medium from becoming filled with particles removed from the water, thereby preventing a pressure drop from the outlet. The backwash water is flushed through the drain.
Optional Stainless Flex Connectors
We recommend the use of full-flow flexible stainless steel connectors to reduce installation costs and upkeep expenses.
This eliminates the need for unions and allows tank expansion, which may prevent costly leaks.
Annual Maintenance
The Kynar check valve should be replaced, and the corona discharge cell cleaned every 12 months. CS1240-CAT media replacement is typically recommended every 5 years.
