Bone Char for Water Purification 1 cu.ft Bag of 12x50 Mesh ~ 40 Lbs
Bone Char is a black, granular solid obtained by calcining cattle bones. Through the calcining process, crushed bone is stripped clean leaving carbon and tricalcium phosphate. Bone char has proven to be a valuable filtering media in the purification of sugar syrups, removing dissolved contaminants from aquariums and reducing fluoride and tannins from water. Bone char also has a high absorptive capacity for lead, mercury and arsenic. Bone Char can impart an unpleasant taste to the water and should be followed by a Coconut Shell carbon system.
Due to the varied nature of treatment and operational procedures, we regret that we cannot make any reduction estimates or warranty. Bone Char is not ideal for enhancing water flavor and may impart some unpleasant taste for several weeks after start-up. It is highly recommended that a Coconut Shell carbon system be installed after Bone Char to enhance the water flavor. Contact WECO for options.
